What is Essentrics?
Essentrics® is a dynamic full-body workout that strengthens, stretches, and balances the body through a blend of controlled movements inspired by dance, yoga, and tai chi. Beyond stronger muscles, this workout helps you develop better posture, flexibility, and mobility.
Where does it come from?
More than twenty years ago, former ballet dancer Miranda Esmonde-White developed the Essentrics technique: a dynamic stretch workout accessible to everyone, which gently moves and strengthens more than 650 muscles and 360 joints in the body in a respectful way. The well-known PBS series Classical Stretch is based on Essentrics and is now broadcast worldwide.
Who is it for?
Everyone is welcome, regardless of age or fitness level.
What does a class look like?
The class begins with a gentle warm-up, gradually bringing the body into movement. You then transition into a series of flowing, dynamic movements that continuously blend into one another. You mainly use your own body weight, without heavy weights. The exercises combine stretching and strengthening at the same time, often in a rhythmic pace and set to music. The class targets the entire body: arms, legs, back, core, and even small stabilizing muscles. At the end, there is a calm cooldown to help your body return to a state of relaxation.

In February 2026, I started my Essentrics instructor training. From June onwards, I will be teaching my first practice classes at Cultuurhuis Planck in Katwijk.
I am currently an Essentrics® Apprentice Instructor and working towards my Level 1 certification (expected at the end of 2026).
