Privacy policy

This page explains how I handle personal data processed via margotfanos.nl. I process as little data as possible and only for the purposes described below.

Who is responsible?

Margot Fanos, based in Voorhout (the Netherlands), is the data controller for personal data processed via this website. Questions can be sent to info@margotfanos.nl.

What data do I process?

Through the contact form I process your name, email address and the content of your message. If you sign up for the newsletter I process your name and email address, plus the time, the text version and the source of your consent (for example via the website or during a class). With your consent, I collect aggregated visit statistics via Google Analytics 4.

How is this data used?

Contact-form messages are used solely to answer your question or schedule a class (basis: performance of or steps towards an agreement and my legitimate interest in replying, Article 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). The newsletter is only sent to people who signed up for it and confirmed their signup (basis: consent, Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). Visit statistics are used to improve the website, only with your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) and never for advertising or profiling.

You receive the newsletter a few times a year, with news about the classes and class times and occasionally a blog post. Signing up uses double confirmation (double opt-in): after submitting the form you first receive an email with a confirmation link, and only once you click it are you on the list. To confirm your signup, Brevo records whether you click that confirmation link; this is used only to confirm your subscription, not to track your behaviour or build a profile. You can unsubscribe at any time with one click, at the bottom of every email — as easy as signing up. Unsubscribing does not affect processing that already took place before then.

How long is data kept?

Contact messages are retained for as long as needed to answer your question, and at most 24 months. Your newsletter signup is kept for as long as you are subscribed; if you unsubscribe, I keep only a minimal record of your sign-up and unsubscribe as evidence of your consent, for at most three years. Signups that are not confirmed within 30 days are deleted. Aggregated analytics data is retained for at most 14 months.

Who is the data shared with?

Contact-form messages are delivered to my inbox via Resend (an email delivery service); incoming mail to info@margotfanos.nl is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing. The newsletter is handled by Brevo (Sendinblue SAS), which stores the signups and sends the emails; Brevo processes this data within the EU. The forms on this site are protected against abuse with Cloudflare Turnstile, for which Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address. The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages; Cloudflare also collects cookieless visit statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics), which place no cookies, do not track you across other websites, and do not build a profile about you. If you consent to analytics cookies, aggregated statistics are processed by Google (Google Analytics 4). I never sell data to third parties.

Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, rectify, erase and port your data, and to object to its processing. Where you have given consent — for example for the newsletter or analytics cookies — you can withdraw it at any time. You can request erasure of your data separately; I carry out such a request within one month. To exercise these rights, email info@margotfanos.nl. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority.

Security

The website is served exclusively over HTTPS and I take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data.
